HOW TO PLAY ROULETTE
[ home ]
Roulette is a game that captivates its players. There are two main types of Roulette—European and American. The main difference is the American version of Roulette has an extra green zero spot (00) added to it. This increases the house advantage, which is significant. The game itself is pretty simple to learn. Today, we will go over the Roulette betting methods.
The Game
The actual game sequence in Roulette is a simple one. First, the players make all the best on the Roulette layout that they want—within the allotted time. Next, the dealer spins the ball along the rim of the Roulette wheel. When the ball drops into place, the dealer marks the winning number and rakes in all losing bets. Finally, the winning bets are paid and the next game begins.
Roulette Bet Types
Following is a listing of all the betting propositions a player can place in Roulette. Some are better than others.
Straight Bet: Placing your bet on a number is known as a straight bet. You win when the number comes up and lose if it doesn’t. The bet is paid 35 to 1.
Split Bet: If you want to bet two adjacent numbers, you can place your bet on the line that connects the two bets. You will win if either number comes up. The split bet is paid 17 to 1.
Corner Bet: If you want to be on four adjoining numbers, place your bet on the corner where they intersect. You will win if any of the four numbers comes up. The corner bet is paid 8 to 1.
Street Bet: Place your bet on the start of a row to place a street bet. This bet consists of the three numbers in the row. It pays 11 to 1 and wins win either of the three numbers come up.
Double Street Bet: As with the street bet, you can slide your bet to the line that borders two streets and have 6 numbers in play. This bet pays 5 to 1.
Columns: You can bet on an entire column of numbers by making a bet here. The column bet pays 2 to 1.
Dozens: The roulette layout is divided into three groups of 12, which are called dozens. Placing your bet on either one gives you all the numbers in the dozen section you selected. The bet pays 2 to 1.
Five Number Bet: This is really a fool’s bet. By placing your bet on the line that connects the 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3, you will get all five of these numbers. This bet pays 6 to 1.
There’s also a series of even-money bets such as:
- High Low (1-18 and 19-36)
- Red and Black (Betting if the color will be red or black)
- Odd and Even (Betting if the number will be odd or even).
That wraps up the betting possibilities in Roulette.
House Advantage
This house advantage on the American version of Roulette is 5.26%. The European version of Roulette only has a 2.7% house advantage. If you are playing online, it’s relatively easy to find the European version of Roulette to play. If you have access to this version, you should play it. Either way, Roulette is a fun game to play and can yield huge paydays.
