GAMBLING TIPS
[ home ]
Knowing how to play a game is half the battle. The other half is knowing how to optimize play. To win consistently, you need to refine your play so you don’t make mistakes. Mistakes in play are what separate the winning gambler from the losing one. Following is a list of some great gambling tips designed to help you win more often and have more fun. The games discussed are: Baccarat, Blackjack, Craps and Roulette.
Baccarat Tips
The Banker has a slight advantage over the player and that’s why you have to pay a commission to bet the Banker. If you want a simply strategy, bet the Banker every single hand.
Never wager on the Ties bet. The probability of a tie is minimal and the payoff is not that good. Additionally, don’t be suckered in by the dealer telling you that ties often repeat, because they don’t. This bet is bad news so stay away.
Blackjack Tips
When you are playing Blackjack and your first two cards total eleven, you should almost always double down. If the dealer has a ten showing, you may want to think twice about it. However, all other instances should be automatic double down moves.
Never take insurance. The insurance bet is there to make the house money. It’s a bad bet and there’s never a good time to take it. Even if you are sitting on 20, don’t take insurance. If the dealer gets lucky and gets a blackjack, so be it. The probably of the dealer having blackjack is too low to warrant taking out insurance every time the dealer asks for it.
Always split eights. If you are dealt two eights, that’s 16 and not a good hand. However, by splitting them, you have a great shot at making at least one good hand. Since the dealer stand on 17, it’s very likely that you can turn a poor hand into a push or even a double win.
Craps Tips
Don’t wager on any proposition bets. Proposition bets, or “prop bets”, are located in the center of the craps layout. Some common proposition bets are: hardway, horn and any craps. These bets are moneymakers for the house. The odds are terrible in relation to the probability of hitting the bet.
Bet on the passline and take your odds. The passline is one of the best bets in the casino, because the house advantage is pretty low. Whenever you bet on the passline and a point is established, make sure you place your odds to maximize your potential.
Never bet on the Big 6 or the Big 8. These two bets are the lazy person’s sucker bet. Both of these bets pay even money—so you lose your odds. Let’s imagine you bet $3 on the Big 6. Each time you win, you get paid $3. Had you placed the 6 for $3 instead, you would be paid $3.50. Therefore, you are technically losing 50 cents each time you “win” on the Big 6. That can add up in a hurry and that’s just for a $3 bet.
Roulette Tips
Should you have the desire to play Roulette online, look for European Roulette. Most online casinos offer European Roulette. The European wheel only has one zero slot, whereas, the American wheel has two. This extras zero slot almost doubles the house advantage and reduces your chances to come out a winner.
It can sometimes be better to scatter your chips around the layout rather than betting large amounts on one or a couple of bets. Try to line your bets up with one part of the wheel. That way, if you guess the section or half of the wheel that the ball drops into, you are a winner.
Hopefully, you have enjoyed these gambling tips and learned something as well. Knowing what bets to stay away from is as important as knowing how to play the rest of the situations that arise in gambling.
